This fermentation jar ensures that the excess pressure created by the fermentation process is automaticly and savely removed.

The water seal works simple: the CO2 is automatically removed due to the pressure from within. This means you no longer have to worry about exploding jars, and you never have to manually burp it again.

This makes fermentation easier and you don't take any risks.

A nice bonus: this lid with an airlock  has a standard size. This means that this lid fits most other bracket jars.

  • 1. You first fill your jar with drink or food to be fermented. Fill it up to a maximum of 3 centimeters below the edge. So you maintain an air layer of at least 3 centimeters. This is necessary for the carbon dioxide and the expansion of the liquid or food, which is created during the fermentation process.

    2. Only when the lid is closed, do you fill the water seal about halfway with water. If you do this earlier, the water will flow out of your water seal as soon as you tilt the lid. You fill the water seal by removing the lid at the top of the water seal and pouring the water in. The water raises the floating part slightly. Then you place the lid back on the water seal and the fermentation process can begin. The plastic lid of the water seal has small holes through which the carbon dioxide is removed.

Because you can never fill the pot completely, only gas escapes through the water seal. The water seal is therefore not intended to become dirty during fermentation. If this does happen, the pot is usually overfilled or the fermentation has gone extremely fast due to an extreme amount of sugar, too high a temperature or, for example, too much starter or yeast.

    Remove water seal

The water seals therefore do not have to be completely cleaned every time after use. But it is of course possible, preferably remove the water seal without changing the position of the black rubber. You remove the water seal with a slow rotating movement and a slight pulling movement. The water seal consists of three parts that you can rinse or clean more intensively if desired.

    Replace water seal

The best way to replace the water seal is to hold the black rubber seal on the inside of the lid with one finger while pressing the water seal back in at the top of the lid with a rotating, slightly pushing movement.

Make sure that when you remove the water seal from the rubber, the rubber does not move out of place. You do this by removing the water seal with a slow rotating movement.

    Replace rubber seal

If the rubber nevertheless comes out of place, you must place it back in the glass. This is not that easy and requires some skill. But this works best if you hold the rubber on one jug with a finger and push it into the hole on the other side. The rubber will not sit properly in the hole at first, but by inserting a pencil or another tapered object through it, the rubber will sit properly again. Look after; Do not try to force the rubber into place with a sharp object as this may tear it.
